About Us

The Dunmow club is a members only club, currently comprising of some 1100 members, approximately 100 of which are honorary members having been members for over 30 consecutive years. Joining the club is relatively easy with application forms being available on this website and over the bar in the club itself. We do ask for applications to be proposed and seconded by existing members, although for those moving into the area without friends, colleagues or acquaintances we do try to accommodate those applications also.

As a member you may sign guests in as per the current rules. Partners are allowed into the club from 4:30pm on Friday through to closing on Sunday evenings or Bank holiday Monday evening.

The club comprises of a bar area, serving a large range of draught beers and lagers, wines, spirits and soft drinks, limited snacks are also available. A lounge area is adjacent to the bar with a dance floor and a large screen TV. This TV is primarily for showing football matches, although available at other times for Rugby, Cricket, Golf, Horse Racing etc. Live music is also held in this area, along with Poker, Quizzes, Race nights and Bingo in the near future . Directly in front of the bar is a ’quiet’ area where members can read the newspapers that are delivered each morning or chat quietly to their friends. The TV in this area is only used as an overflow and with no sound to maintain the ‘quiet’ area. A games room completes the downstairs area with two darts boards, cards dominoes etc. and a TV that can be used for alternative sports from the main TV or as an overflow to the main TV. The club is wheelchair friendly and has access to a disabled toilet located through the doors opposite the bar.

On the upper floor there is a Snooker room with two full size tables which are both maintained to a very high level, leading off from this room is a Pool room with one table. Currently both the Snooker and Pool tables are free to use by the members. Toilets are also available upstairs.

Outside the club offers an outdoor covered area for those members wishing to smoke or vape. Adjacent to this is a small enclosed seating area which is ideal for enjoying the sun when it decides to appear. The car park which has approximately 50 spaces for members use gives up a few spaces in the summer months to accommodate additional outdoor seating along with recently introduced Sunday afternoon entertainment with popular duo’s and bands offering live music.

The club has several Snooker teams, a darts team, and has had a Pool team recently.

The Club organises various external activities for its members. Typically trips are organised to race days at both Newmarket and Chelmsford with the latter currently having free tickets and transport. An away day is organised for it’s senior members with Southwold becoming a firm favourite, once again this is currently offered free to members and partners. Golf is currently proving popular with several courses booked during the year. A club golf day is held in June with transport to and from the club, breakfast, 18 holes, with a buffet and prizes on return to the club. The club continues to explore opportunities to enhance members enjoyment of the club and is always looking for volunteers to help in organising events as one offs or as repeats.
